Meet Our New Magnesium Rituals

Two new ways to soften the body, calm the edges, and bring mineral-rich support into your everyday rhythm.

We are so excited to welcome two new magnesium products into the Rooted Apothecary collection: Magnesium Butter and Magnesium Spray.

These were created for the bodies that carry, a lot. The tired muscles,  restless sleepers, the nervous systems running on overdrive, cyclical bodies moving through cramps and tension, and the everyday humans who need a simple ritual to come back into themselves.

Magnesium has become one of those minerals we reach for again and again because it plays such an important role in the body. It is often associated with muscle function, relaxation, sleep support, nervous system regulation, stress response, and overall restoration.

And while magnesium can be taken internally, we love the practice of using it topically, massaged into the skin, sprayed onto tired legs, rubbed into feet before bed, or applied to the places where the body is asking for extra care.

Why Magnesium?

Magnesium is often called the “relaxation mineral” because of the way it supports muscles, nerves, and the body’s natural ability to soften after stress, movement, or long days.

Ways People Love to Use Magnesium

Magnesium can be a beautiful addition to so many daily and seasonal rituals, including:

  • Before bed to support deep rest and evening wind-down
  • On sore muscles after exercise, hiking, gardening, or long work days
  • On legs and feet after standing all day
  • Massaged into the lower belly or low back during menstrual cramps
  • As part of a calming ritual during stress, tension, or anxious feelings
  • After travel, long drives, or flights when the body feels tight or unsettled
  • On shoulders, neck, or back where tension tends to gather
  • As a nightly foot ritual before sleep
  • After sauna, bath, or shower as part of a body care ritual

For many people, magnesium becomes less of a “product” and more of a habit and something they keep beside the bed, in the bathroom, in the gym bag, or next to the bath.

Magnesium Butter

Our Magnesium Butter is rich, creamy, and deeply comforting. It was created for those who want magnesium support with the nourishing feel of a body butter.

Made with magnesium chloride, aloe vera, shea butter, cocoa butter, coconut oil, jojoba, and a soft citrus-floral aroma of grapefruit and neroli, this butter melts into the skin while giving the body a grounding, mineral-rich ritual.

We especially love it before bed, after long days on your feet, during cycle tension, or anytime the body feels tight, overworked, or overstimulated.

Best for:

Feet before bed, sore muscles, shoulders, legs, lower belly, low back, and daily body care rituals.

Magnesium Spray

Our Magnesium Spray is the quicker, lighter ritual with a high-potency mineral mist made with magnesium chloride, aloe vera, neroli hydrosol, and distilled water.

It absorbs quickly, feels clean on the skin, and is easy to reach for after movement, before sleep, or whenever the body needs a fast reset. Aloe helps soften the intensity of magnesium, making this spray smooth and simple to use.

We love this one for legs, feet, shoulders, back, and travel bags. It is the bottle you reach for when you want magnesium support without the richness of a cream.

Best for:

Quick application, post-workout use, tired legs, bedtime routines, travel, and areas of tension.

Butter or Spray?

Both formulas bring magnesium to the skin, but they offer two different experiences.

Choose the Magnesium Butter if you want something rich, moisturizing, and ritual-based. Choose the Magnesium Spray if you want something quick, light, and easy to apply throughout the day.

Or, use them together: spray first for a fast mineral application, then follow with butter when you want extra nourishment and a slower, more restorative ritual.

A Note on Tingling

Topical magnesium can create a light tingling sensation, especially on sensitive skin or freshly shaved areas. This is normal for many people, but we recommend starting slowly and avoiding broken, irritated, or freshly shaved skin.

If tingling feels too strong, apply less, use over lotion, or rinse after 20 minutes.

A New Rooted Ritual

These magnesium products were made for the moments when your body says: slow down, soften, come back.

Whether you reach for the butter, the spray, or both, we hope they become a small but powerful part of your daily care.
