Kaytlyn Olson • Oct 28, 2022

You might have seen a new products lurking around our website and social media. One that can make all your pumpkin dreams come true. What is this new product you ask? Well we have recently introduced our Smashin’ Pumpkin Face and Body Peel. This peel offers a delicious combination of Glycolic Acid and Vitamin C that will give your skin the most decadent tingly treat.

While all that might sound amazing you are probably wondering what all the hype is around pumpkin skin treatments?

Pumpkin is high in many things that are benefitting to the skin such as vitamins and antioxidants. Vitamin A and C are probably the most helpful with skincare, but what exactly does that mean for you? Whether you are looking for something with some anti-aging power,a way to help with stubborn acne, heal sun spots and damage, or lock in hydration our Smashin’ Pumpkin Peel is our new go to addition to your skincare routine.

Unlike big box brands, our Smashin’ Pumpkin Face and Body Peel is made with natural ingredients, free of chemical fragrances and harsh preservatives. The amazing scent comes from:

  • Pumpkin Puree

  • Organic Sugar Maple Extract

  • Organic Orange Peel Extract

  • Organic Lemon Peel Extrac

  • Organic Cinnamon Powder

  • Organic Ginger Root Powder

  • Organic Nutmeg Powder

  • Organic Allspice Powder

  • Organic Clove Powder

  • Organic Cardamom Powder

  • Essential oils of Cardamom, Violet, Linden, Laurel, Douglas Fir, Grapefruit, and Vanilla

So what all exactly does Smashin’ Pumpkin do for your skin?

Heres a list of some of the wonderful benefits of Rooted Apothecary’s all natural Smashin’ Pumpkin Peel:

  • Helps to shed old and damaged skin cells

  • Helps fight free radicals with herbs

  • Glycolic Acid provides a light exfoliation

This natural pumpkin peel was formulated by Apothecary owner Briana Wiles, who uses her decades of plant knowledge, wildcrafting, and herbalist expertise to create natural, organic, and wildcrafted skin care and health supporting remedies.

Does a pumpkin peel work and what type of skin is a pumpkin peel good for?

This pumpkin peel while giving you a tingly sensation when applied is still gentle enough for all skin types. The light tingle let’s you know that the Glycolic Acid and Vitamin C are working for your skin. Oh, and did we mention that you can use this full body as well??

So, now that you know a little bit about how Smashin’ Pumpkin can help in your skincare routine the next question is how to incorporate it into your lineup. For me, I struggle with the idea of keeping a routine for literally anything! Therefore, I try to think of any of my skincare processes as more of a “ritual” . . . that way it's beneficial AND fun. So for me, adding in a product that only needs to be used a couple times a week is ideal because I just build myself my own little self-care ritual around it. Wanna know what that looks like for me?

How to use a pumpkin peel in your skin care routine:

  1. Start with a clean skin (I like to use Rooted’s Emerald Lake Oil Cleanser )

  2. Apply Smashin’ Pumpkin Peel liberally to the area you are trying to target

  3. Let the peel dry down (pro-tip: while letting this dry it's a great time to enjoy a cup of tea, maybe take a moment to meditate, maybe do some journaling or reading, or really whatever your heart and mind say you need at that moment)

  4. Remove with warm water

  5. And finally, I like to follow up with a good moisturizer or serum…my favorite? Our Aloe and Mallow Dream Cream or Rose Hemp Serum ( available from our CBD site here )

  6. Repeat process 2-3 times a week

So add a little bit of this season's biggest start to your skincare lineup today, because really who doesn't need a little bit more pumpkin in their life this fall (and year round)! Wanna grab a jar and see what the pumpkin peel hype is all about? Stop by either of our brick and mortar stores in Crested Butte and Gunnison, Colorado or order online today!

Kat and I have been brewing this up for years and we are excited to present: Forest to Field Festival!! Tickets are open to the WILD!! 100 people are getting in for our discounted early bird price, and after that prices go up to $244 for adults and $66 for kiddos. Join us September 8-10! in Hotchkiss, CO Forest To Field Festival is an immersive weekend festival reviving the innate lessons of Earth and creating a link between the deep slow wisdom of the wild forest, to the nourishing relationship between humans and the land they cultivate. Participants, tiny and tall, will explore what it is to be a human close to the land with classes on ancestral skills, animal tending, herbalism, foraging, medicine and craft making, sustainable living, and more. Hone in on the lost traditions our ancestors have woven between humans and nature. Take the time to slow down with like-minded community that values the importance of preserving our lineages and the Earth. We will be honoring the land we have stepped onto with a ceremony acknowledging the indigenous Ute people, and connecting us to the remembrance of what the land we are embraced by truly is. Evenings are filled with LIVE music from @aylanereo Friday night and DJ Shaunti Saturday night so we can celebrate life in full dance. Bring a wild food-inspired dish Friday night to join in the Wild Food Potluck! For Tickets and more info: https://plantcamp.mykajabi.com/forest-field

Last month Kat and I went to teach at Midwest Wild Harvest Festival in Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin. My friend Sam Thayer hosts the event, and there's a handful of teachers and about 200 students that get together for 3 days to learn about foraging, feasting, living with the land, and we went to teach about herbs!
